The song is well known live for featuring Matt using his Kaoss Pad during the solo which causes no live performance to sound exactly the same as another. There exists very few setlists since 2006 where the song wasn't played, with much of the exceptions being either promotional or rarity concerts. Since its live debut on May 13, 2006, Supermassive Black Hole has become a near on constant part of the setlist.
